Privacy
Your privacy on this site
The short version
You can use every part of this site without being tracked. If you say yes to the question at the bottom of the page, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which slides are used. If you say no, nothing is sent to Google.
What we collect if you say yes
- Which pages you visit, and when.
- Which sessions you open, which slide numbers you reach, and which files you download.
- Your device type, browser, screen size and rough location (city or country). Google works out the location from your internet address and does not store the address itself.
We do not collect your name, email, phone number or anything you type. We have switched off Google's advertising and cross-device features, so this data is not used for ads.
Why
To see which sessions learners find useful, and to make the course and this site better. Only the course team sees these numbers, as totals.
Cookies
If you say yes, Google Analytics stores small files called cookies (their names start with _ga) on your device, so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one. This site sets no other cookies. Your yes or no answer is saved in your browser so we do not ask on every visit.
Who handles the data
Labour Amplified runs this site. Google Analytics is provided by Google, which may store the data on servers outside South Africa, under its own privacy and security commitments. Google keeps the detailed data for two months.
Changing your mind
Use Stats settings at the bottom of the slides page at any time. If you choose no, we remove the Google Analytics cookies from your device and stop sending data. Clearing your browser data also resets your choice.
Questions
Ask your facilitator, who can pass your question to the course team. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain to the Information Regulator.
